
At the age of 26, Amy has a had a very successful and varied professional career. Born in North Wales, December 12th 1982, Amy developed a passion for all things active, and took up horse riding at a very young age. Over the years her sporting ability gave her the opportunity to represent Wales in various fields. Amy Hurdled for Wales, ran Cross Country and played Netball at national level. She represented Wales horse riding for 5 consecutive years in Mounted Games and Show Jumping and finally achieved her goal of being part of the Great Britain squad. She competed and won at International level throughout the UK , Europe and America. Whilst at University Amy played Polo and turned her hand to Stunt Riding and Jousting.
Alongside all Amy’s sporting commitments, was her education. Amy is a studious girl and Graduated from Nottingham University with a degree with honours in Architecture. Amy took a year out after studying to travel and pursue modeling work. She then obtained a placement at a well established Architectural Practice. With a passion for architectural and cultural design Amy decided to move to Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia for a short while and worked for a team of Global Residential Developers. In this time she worked along side Architects, Surveyors and Planners designing an impressive collection of luxury villas and duplex apartments. She returned to the UK and continued to work in the Residential Field and returned to study another 2 yrs at university to gain her Masters in Architecture.
Whilst taking time out in her gap year Amy was fortunate enough to win the title of Miss Wales and travelled to Miss World In China where she came 7th! Amy describes this experience as “amazing” and “no matter what hype and criticism pageants get - unless you have competed in one, please don’t mock them. They provide girls with a vast experience of world culture and travel and do an awful lot of charitable good”. Amy then won the title of Miss UK in 2005 and travelled to Japan to compete in another Pageant. With her sporting background she also won the Miss World Sports & Fitness in 2004 and subsequently got sponsored by to run a selection of marathons across the globe, including New York, Salt Lake, Chicago, London and Kuala Lumpar.
Aside from all of Amy’s study, sport and traveling commitments she has also modelled in many International fashion and sport campaigns including Ralph Lauren, Jimmy Choo, Adidas, Nike, Asics, La Perla, Janet Reiger, La Senza, and Zara.
Whilst working as a free lance Architectural designer in London, Amy tried out for the new series of Gladiators for Sky 1. She applied to be a contender and was asked to try out to become a new Gladiator. Amy surpassed all expectations when she was selected from 12,000 applicants, and was asked to become a new Gladiator for the 2nd series. Amy’s alter ego ‘Siren’, described as the goddess’s of perilous seduction has gone on to be one of the most successful gladiators, appearing in 16 of 17 episodes.
In February 2009 Amy was approached by the British Show Jumping Association to become the official ‘face’ of the sport. She will be played in a celebrity Polo game at the British Indoor Equestrian Open in Birmingham in April against Katie Price. With Amy’s return to competitive sport she has her sights set on the 2012 London Olympics. Amy is hoping to make the British Modern Pentathlon team, and with her spirit and determination she will be sure to follow this through.
With her passion for all things Equestrian, Amy has also been asked to become a presenter for the Horse and Country digital TV channel, and will be reporting on both British and International equine events in the coming months.
With so many exciting and successful projects in the pipeline Amy still remains grounded and focused. She is a keen supporter of the Parkinson’s disease organisation charity, and brings much needed awareness and raises funds through charitable donations to this fantastic cause.
In 2010 she married her Movie Director Fiancée Alex, and appeared in her first feature film in the Spring, is there anything else this successful 26yr old is still yet to achieve? Well, she quite fancies her chances at being the next Bond Girl!!
