Danny Herriot

Danny Herriot

Biography

Playing against Ireland at Donnybrook last December was a memorable baptism at international level for Danny Herriott, one of 14 newcomers in the 23-man squad. He subsequently started against Italy U19 in February, played off the bench in the Scotland match the following month and scored his first try for England U18 against Wales at Auch in April.

He was born in Deal, Kent and is now studying for a Level 3 BTEC in Sport at Moulton College, having previously attended The Downs Primary and Castle Community College, both in Deal.

Danny first played when seven at the Deal & Betteshanger club where he was coached by his father David. After seven years, he moved to Ashford for a season before appearing for Blackheath for the past three years.

Now with Northampton Saints Academy, he is learning much there from Alan Dickens and Grant Seely, having already benefited from the guidance of David Burdon at Ashford and Ron Squires at Blackheath.

He represented Kent U14-U16, won the players’ player of the year award at Deal & Betteshanger, then the equivalent one from the coaches at Blackheath and played at No. 8 before switching to his current role on either side of the scrum.

Scots Tom Smith and Euan Murray, both former Saints men, are his top players and his hobbies centre on table tennis, swimming and kayaking. Back on the field, his target is to play at the highest possible level and that 29-12 win in Ireland was the perfect launch pad.
