Phil Clifton

Phil Clifton

Biography

Phil is an attractive, funny and charming young presenter, with a contagious passion for all things music, comedy and youth culture.

A relatively new face in the presenting game, he has quickly racked up a wealth of experience in both radio and television with his first ever time presenting being live across the Xfm network. With his listening figures constantly on the increase at Xfm, he was quickly promoted up the ranks of their schedule – being nominated for the prestigious ‘Sony Rising Star’ award along the way – until he was heard by producers at MTV and was offered the chance to present some of their chart output. His regular gig, ‘The Official Rock Chart’, is a consistent ratings success and he remains heavily involved in both presenting and writing for the show. He has also popped up on other MTV shows, including ‘The Top 50 Festival Anthems’ and as a roving reporter for Zane Lowes legendary MTV 2 show ‘Gonzo’. When Phil tested for the role of Backstage Host for Channel 5’s new talent show ‘Don’t Stop Believing’, it was later commented that the decision to take him on was unanimous among both the 5 network and the two production companies behind the programme, and his show has proved something of an internet smash, averaging 200,000 views per episode. He’s also been doing some live interviews on Myspace which have been beamed around the world.

Prior to presenting, Phil gained invaluable experience as a producer and worked on-air alongside established names such as Danny Wallace, Rick Edwards, Alex Zane and Dave Berry. Now, as a host in his own right, he has some impressive interviews under his belt, including the likes of Emma Bunton, Pete Doherty, Kaiser Chiefs and Fall Out Boy.

Phil’s passion for entertainment and broadcast in all its forms means that he is able to deliver both comical, irreverent pieces and topical, factual material with equal measure and a natural competence.

Television and Radio presenting aside, Phil has been a repeat booking for various voiceover jobs, works as a live DJ and has undertaken various gigs hosting live events for corporate clients.

Phil is truly one of today’s most versatile and creative emerging talents, and producers who have worked with him agree that he is “one of the most exciting presenters in the county right now.” We have every confidence that he is one to look out for as a rising star in 2010.
