Rory Hamilton-Brown is an English cricketer, who currently captains Surrey. Playing as an all-rounder, he is a right-handed batsman and off spin bowler.
After an impressive few seasons playing for the Second XI and getting occasional opportunities in One Day cricket, Rory left Surrey in 2007, joining Chris Adams’ Sussex for two years, during which time he won the NatWest Pro40 League and Twenty20 Cup and participated in the inaugural Twenty20 Champions League in India.
Hamilton-Brown returned to Surrey as captain on Christmas Eve 2009, once again brought in by Adams to spearhead his attempts to return the Lions to the top of the English domestic game and has already produced some scintillating innings with his aggressive stroke making.
An ever present in all forms of the game for the last two years, Hamilton-Brown’s finest moments to date came in the final month of the 2011 campaign when he led his side to promotion and starred in the CB40 final, anchoring Surrey’s successful chase with a mature innings of 78.
He was set to lead England U-19 for the 2006-07 winter tour of Malaysia, but couldn’t because of shoulder surgery.
Since the end of the season at Surrey Hamilton Brown has played in Hong Kong as captain for the England sixes team. He then moved onto Zimbabwe captaining the Masholand Eagles narrowly losing the final of their cup competition and now finally to the Wellington Firebirds to play in the HRV Cup in New Zealand.
The focus for Rory this season is to break into the England T20 and ODI setup and establish himself as an England regular.
