Born in New York 1971, Jade Jagger has since carved a feted reputation as an artist, creative director and visionary jeweller.
Jade’s childhood coincided with the halcyon days of the pop art scene in New York. Andy Warhol’s ‘The Factory’ inspired and nurtured Jade’s talent for painting. It was he who famously said, “I love Mick and Bianca, but Jade’s more my speed. I taught her how to colour and she showed me how to play Monopoly. She was four and I was forty-four.” Although educated at St Marys Calne in Wiltshire it was this early influence, which shaped Jade’s career as an artist. In the late 80’s and early 90’s Jade held numerous, successful exhibitions of her works.
Jade’s entrepreneurial spirit led her to apply her decorative, bohemian style to one-of-a-kind jewellery pieces and in September 1997, Jade Inc. was born. Her jewellery was initially available exclusively through Paul Smith stores around the world. The response from clients and press was overwhelming and led to an impressive international list of stockists including Maxfields, Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys, Collette, Browns, The Cross and A La Mode amongst others. Jade Inc. had become a global business. Jade’s critical and commercial success did not go unnoticed by Asprey & Garrard, and in September 2000 she was appointed fine jeweller to the House.
Jade’s dedication and innovation of design reached a new generation and earned her the prestigious promotion to Creative Director at Garrard. Jade has overseen all of the creative communication since the Crown Jewellers relaunch and its subsequent worldwide retail openings in London, New York, Moscow, Dubai and Japan.
Having stepped down as Creative Director in July 2007 Jade continues to work with the house designing an exclusive collection of fine jewellery for them. This perennial collection is to be devoted to the ancient, ornamental gemstone and her namesake, Jade.
Paris Fashion Week of October 2007 saw the launch of Jade’s first independent collection since Garrard. Encompassing both jewellery and clothing, this collection characterised the colliding world she inhabits and represented a nostalgic nod to the Halcyon days of Jade Inc. Jade Jagger Jewels and Jezebel were bought by a number of leading stockists worldwide including Liberty, Colette, Isetan, 10 Corso Como and Podium.
Meanwhile Jade had been carving out a reputable name for herself in the world of music with Jezebel. This began as a residence in Ibiza’s club of clubs; Pacha and swiftly grew into a Sound, Design and Music factory fusing the three worlds through means such as DJ sets, original recordings, live gigs and a capsule clothing collection. Jade took Jezebel to new heights organising events across Europe, in the Far East and London.
Jade’s acclaimed maverick and modern aesthetic identity, recently led to her role as Creative Director at “Jade Jagger for Yoo”. John Hitchcox, Philippe Starck and Yoo joined forces with Jade in 2004, to begin an exciting new concept in residential property design and development. Jade has closely collaborated with Hitchcox, Starck and her long-term business partner, designer Tom Bartlett. The first development was launched in Manhattan’s Chelsea district – The Jade. This was followed soon-after by The Lakes, a development in on of England’s most sought after country hideaways; The Cotswolds.
Jade Jagger currently resides in London with her daughters Amba and Assisi.
